Test Guidelines:

In Task 1 of the General Training Writing Test, you are required to write a letter based on a given situation. You must respond to the situation in an appropriate manner (formal or informal). Make sure to follow the given instructions and stay within the word limit of at least 150 words.

Statement 1: You rented a car from a Car Rental Company. The air conditioner has stopped working, and after phoning the company a week ago, it still hasn't been repaired. Write a letter to the company explaining the situation and what action you would like them to take.

Statement 2: There are plans to make your local airport bigger and increase the number of flights. You live near the airport and would like to voice your opinion. Write a letter to your local council explaining the problem and why you do not want the development to take place.

Statement 3: You have seen an advertisement from a couple who live in Australia. They are looking for someone to teach their two children your language for a year. Write a letter to the couple, explaining why you think you would be suitable for the job, what else you could offer them, and why you want the job.

Statement 4: Your local public library wants to make improvements to their services and facilities. In order to get ideas from the public, they have asked library users to send them suggestions in writing. Write a letter to the librarian in your letter -describe what you like about the library -say what you don’t like -make suggestions for improvements

Statement 5: You are going to study in a college in the UK next year. You would like to stay in a college Hall of Residence. Write a letter to the college giving your accommodation requirements. You should outline what your room and food needs are and also ask what alternatives are available if they cannot provide what you want.

Statement 6 :An Australian friend is coming to visit you, and it will be his/her birthday during the visit. write a letter to your friend In your letter * say how you feel about the visit * suggest what you could do on his/her birthday *try to find out what you friend thinks of your idea
